2 Active Sites
Sites where military cleanup actions are still ongoing. The risk level of a site refers to a relative risk assessment made by the DOD, which prioritizes the cleanup of sites that pose greatest threat to safety, human health, and the environment.
HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
High Risk
Contaminated: Soil
Unlimited Access
Site ID: 03HTRW
HAZARDOUS, TOXIC AND RADIOACTIVE WASTE
Groundwater collected at source showed trace levels of toluene and xylenes. GW data collected downstream were ND indicating very little movement towards Rodeo Lagoon. GW data collected downgradient shows no impact and the GW is not considered a potential source of drinking water.
Contaminants:
Toluene 0.1 ug/L
Xylenes 0.41 ug/L
Most of the contamination found has been in relation to the removal of UST's and AST's. TPH contaminated soils at depths below 10 ft. Soil contamination isolated to soil band of 10-20 feet bgs. Collection of downgradient water data shows that there is no impact to aquatic receptors in Rodeo Lagoon.
Soil Contaminants:
Iron 181347.0 mg/kg
1,1-Dichloroethane 0.0063 mg/kg
1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene 0.0065 mg/kg

Xylenes 0.517 mg/kg
Zinc 629.0 mg/kg
In 2010, soil samples were collected for XRF quantitative analysis to define lateral and vertical extent of lead contamination. Boundaries were defined. Highest Pb concentrations at fence backstops on surface down to depth of 10 ft. Extent of lead contamination isolated to firing berms and backstop area. Vertical extent no greater than 2-3 ft on firing berms and no greater than 10 feet on first berm in backstop.

Data available: 2012—2017 Source: Surface water Contaminants Detected 8 EXCEED EWG HEALTH GUIDELINES
19 Total Contaminants
EWG's drinking water quality report shows results of tests conducted by the water utility and provided to the Environmental Working Group by the California State Water Resources Control Board, as well as information from the U.S. EPA Enforcement and Compliance History database (ECHO). For the latest quarter assessed by the U.S. EPA (January 2019 - March 2019), tap water provided by this water utility was in compliance with federal health-based drinking water standards.
Legal does not necessarily equal safe. Getting a passing grade from the federal government does not mean the water meets the latest health guidelines.
Legal limits for contaminants in tap water have not been updated in almost 20 years.
The best way to ensure clean tap water is to keep pollution out of source water in the first place.
